Live at the Short North!
We just had one of our biggest performances ever! We charged $7 per ticket and ending up making $234! The house filled up to almost 50 people! Friends, family and jazz lovers! Tara Peña, our featured vocalist, made the show a huge hit! We hope to have her back soon! Here are some pictures from the show!
The Main Stage Gig at KMS!
This was a fun experience for the Blue Jays because it was our first stage performance! We had done background performances before, but this was different and excited! We featured tenor sax player, Devin Coons from Kilbourne High School and he really knocked his solos out of this world! One of our hit songs from the show was Gopsel John by John Higgins. One of our great trumpet players, Oliver Mahnke, played a unique kind of trumpet called the Flugelhorn, producing more of a mellow tone and that really got the crowd clapping along!
Thomas Worthington's Pancake Day!
Every year, high schools Thomas Worthington and Worthington Kilbourne conjoin to hold one of their biggest fundraiser events of the year known as Pancake Day! They always look for entertainment to go along with event and the Blue Jays got to play! We played some great tunes and trumpet player Justin Karmick, played some great solos throughout the show!
The Thomas Worthington Talent Show!
Thomas Worthington High School had their annual talent show and the Blue Jays were a hit in the show! They played throughout the acts and the audience really engaged with the band! They were hootin' and hollerin' after the each of the songs! Footage from the performance will be uploaded soon!
The TWHS Winter Cabaret 2017!
Thomas Worthington's theater department put on their 2nd annual winter cabaret for the holiday season, and Blue Jays we're honored to be asked to be a live jazz band for the show! Many songs arranged by Alex Toth were used to feature guests Maggie Walter, Ben Smith, Dylan Hopcraft, and Cj Yacoub! There were arrangements made to fill scene transitions to simulate real TV specials!
Groove U Instaband 2018 Contest!
The Blue Jays entered in college, Groove U's high school band contest and got to the finals of the competition! We had an amazing experience making a professional audio and video recording and performing live at King Avenue 5! Check out these pictures and see our video!
A Taste of Worthington 2018
The Blue Jays along with special guest Mallory Hartsell, performed at the annual event "A Taste of Worthington" and was an absolute hit! Playing new arrangements like, Hit the Road Jack, This Little Light of Mine, Rollerblades, and many more, really engaged the audience and made the gig a hit!
The Blue Jays' Last Gig...(For Now)
The Blue Jays invited singer Mallory Hartsell back to perform with them at their last gig at Dewey's Pizza in Worthington! The band wanted to put on their best show featuring the talents of the whole band and performing a new song written by Alex Toth called, Deep Grooves. The entire show was a hit, and there was a great crowd turn out! See us next at our homecoming gig!
